Without the Bitter the Sweet isn't as sweet by Mayday Parade

My Songs know what you did in the Dark by Fall out Boy
You're so Creepy by Ghost Town
Young Volcanoes by Fall out Boy
Dear Maria, Count Me In By All time low
Basket Case by Green Day

Poem:

We used to be something surreal
Dare me to jump off of this Jersey bridge?
Every time that I look in the mirror
Today I met a man, sittin' on the corner
Storming through the party like my name was El ninio
B-B-B-Be careful making wishes in the dark, dark
For so long now I've been coming to your rescue (got me thinking I'll get you)
When Rome's in ruins, we are the lions
I got your picture, I'm coming with you

Do you have the time

This week I decide to talk about funny music parodies.

The youtube channel Barely Political is know for the music parodies. The do a segment called key of awesome. I really enjoy the parodies that they make. The channel has over 3 million subscribers and there videos get 8 million, 10 million even 58 million views. Here is some of there music parodies.

Royals by Lorde

Wassabi Productions is another youtube channel that is famous for music parodies. But they do something different in there parodies. The parodies tell a story. In all there parodies it features a girl named Rolanda (who is actually a boy dressed up as a girl and played by Roi) who tries to win the heart of a guy named Alex. But Roland takes a too far and stalks him everyday. Alex does not like Rolanda at all. There is another character named Richard. Richard loves Roland. Richard does not really takes much and he is really creepy. Richard is Played by Alex. Here is a few of there music parodies.

Do you want to Build a Snowman from frozen ( in the music parody they changed the song title to do you want to be my husband)

One of my favourite parodies from them is Blurred lines

Themes and Days

I have realized that doing a theme every week that matches with a certain day is really hard to do. I have decided to not do that anymore and post what I want and not have to worry about making sure I get the post done in time with the right theme as well. Of course i will also talk about some of the themes in future blog posts. I hope you still will read my blog and enjoy the content that I will post in the future.

How to Play songs on Piano

This week I am going to teach you some a song on piano.
The song that I am going to teach you is welcome to the black parade by my chemical romance. You can listen to the song here. If the video won't play you can click the link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q9q6zl3WIs

Here is me playing the song on piano. Click the link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a3k9M1lxHw
I tried to put put the video in the post put it will not let me.

Ok now I will tell you how to play this song.

Opening right hand:
You want to play the opening in C4 octave. C4 is also know as the middle C.
For the opening you play G F# Up to B (In the same octave) E D G C B( in the next octave which would C3) E( now back to C4) A(in the C3 octave). Now you want to play the opening twice. For the opening there is no left hand.

Verse right hand :
D G D  G F# D  F# G D  F# G F# E D E C  F# G F# E D C D
C D G D  G F# D  F# G D  F# G F# E D E C  F# G F# E D C D

Verse left hand: While you are playing the right hand, you play the opening at the same time but in a lower octave like C3.
G F# Up to B (In the same octave) E D G C B( in the next octave which would C3) E( now back to C4) A(in the C3 octave).

That is how you play the song Welcome to the Black Parade By My Chemical Romance. If you still have trouble play this song, I would like to say that I am sorry but I don't know how to play the piano well and it even took me awhile and a lot of practice to get this song right. If you are still having trouble after practicing, leave a comment and I will try and help you. You can also leave a comment if you would like to see a video tutorial.

I hope you liked this blog post. I would love if you posted a link in the comments of you playing this song. Also leave a comment if you would like to learn more songs on piano and maybe I will do another blog post on it. I will see you guys next time.

results of the poll

So I am going to tell you the results of the poll. There was not a lot of votes so maybe next time there will be more votes. The results are... Drum roll please.
There were 3 votes or 60% of the people voted for alternative music. There was one vote or 20% voted for blues and one vote for classical.

So now I am going to start a new poll. The poll topic is boy bands. What is your favourite boy band from the 80s till now?

When I was growing up, my dad had a truck with a tape player instead of a cd player. One of the cassette tapes he had was one from the backstreet boys. Some of the songs on there were Larger Than Life, I Want it That Way and more. As I got older I start to like a new boy band called the Jonas Brothers. A lot of girls in my class like the band. Now one of the big boy bands today are one direction, 5 seconds of summer, big time rush. I never really like one direction, only a couple of songs when they were first popular but now I don't like them at all. I have to say that I am not really fans of the boy bands except maybe the back street boys.

I know that this weeks post is short but I will try to make it better next week. I would love to hear about what boy bands you like so vote on my poll. See you all next week.

Top Music Videos from the 80's- Monday

I was trying to think of a topic about music videos for this week. I was sitting in the car with my mom and she put on sirius xm on the 80s channel. The song thriller came on by Micheal Jackson. I then thought about how cool the music video was and how cool the dance was. Then it got me thinking. I came across the idea of talking about that top ten music videos from the 80's. I searched online to see what the top music videos are and on billboard.com then did on poll to see what people thought the top videos. As I was going through and watching all the videos, I thought that all the videos deserved the place that they got (I have not seen a lot of music videos from the 80s). I am going to tell you what I like about all music videos.

80's music has a big impact on history. It exposed us to hip hop, rap, and heavy metal.

Now lets get to the top ten music videos of the 80s

At number 10 it is "Rhythm Nation" By Janet Jackson

This video was made in 1989. This video is in black and white and Janet Jackson and her crew put on their military jackets. What I really like about the video is the choreographed routine. I think it looks really hard to do and I don't think I would be able to do it. This song was released on the album title Rhythm Nation, which is her fourth studio album.

Number 9 is Every Breath You Take By The Police.

This video was made in 1993 and was the biggest hit. It was US #1 for 8 weeks
At the first MTV Video Music Awards in 1983, this won for Best Cinematography. This video is in black and white. This video shows jazz musicians playing instruments.

Number 8 is Walk This Way By RUN-D.M.C. and Aerosmith.

This video was made in 1986. I really like Aerosmith's music because my mom listens to them all the time. The Run-D.M.C. video is the first that Tyler and Perry appeared in. It was the first time many young Aerosmith fans saw what they looked like. The Run-D.M.C. cover launched Aerosmith's comeback.

Number 7 is Hungry Like A Wolf By Duran Duran

This video was made in 1983. I remember hearing this song in The "Far Far Away Idol" contest at the end of the movie Shrek 2 featured a performance of the song by the Big Bad Wolf.
This was the band's breakthrough hit in the US. It's success originated from MTV, which had only just come on air, showing their video of the band in the Sri Lanka jungle

Number 6 is Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel

This video was made in 1986 The video was directed by Stephen R. Johnson. I really liked how they used stop-motion claymation techniques in the video.

Now we are down to the top five music videos of the 80's

Number 5 is When Doves Cry by Prince

This video was made in 1984. Prince wrote this song for his movie Purple Rain. In the US, this was the #1 song of 1984. It topped the charts for five weeks over the summer.

Number 4 is Take on Me by A-Ha

This video was made in 1985. I really like that the video changes from real to chartoon. The video was inspired by the transformation scene in the 1980 film Altered States. Every scene was shot live then projected onto paper and traced. I really like this song.

Number 3 is Girls Just Want To Have Fun By Cyndi Lauper

This video was made in 1983. Cyndi wanted 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' to be an anthem for women around the world. I really like the bright, outrageous clothes that the girls are wearing in this video.

Number 2 is Like a Prayer By Madonna

This video was made in 1989. This video today has more then 10,000,000 views on the original upload and other uploads of it. I don't really like the video. I feel like the video does not have a good story and I find the video boring.

We are finally at number 1. The number one music video in the 80s is, drum roll please.

Thriller By Michael Jackson.

This video was made in 1983. I remember when I was in grade seven and we had to learn the dance to this song. We also had to perform the song in front of the school  , it was lots of fun.

So that was the top ten music videos from the 80's. I want you to leave in the comments whether you agree or disagree with the top videos. I will see you all next week.

Information About my Blog (my first blog post)

Hi my name is Brooke and this is my blog about music. The reason I decide to make my blog about music because music has helped me though so much. I was think about what I am going to post on my blog. I thought of just writing band or artist reviews every week but then i thought of an even better idea. So i was sitting in class think of ways to make it more creative and interesting. I thought of having a different theme every week. That is a good idea but I know I could do better. Then I thought of having a different theme every week, but the theme would be related to the days of the week and would be posted on that day. I know this sounds confusing but let me explain it more. Here are the themes for the days of the week.

Monday- music video
Tuesday- try something new
Wednesday- what to listen to
Thursday- throwback
Friday- Fact
Saturday- survey
Sunday- surprise

So on the first week I would post my blog post on Monday and it would be about music videos and the next week I would post my blog post on Tuesday and the theme would be try something new. It will continue this pattern for 7 weeks then start over again. so let me explain a little more about the themes. So for Monday I am going to review music popular music videos. I am going to talk about what the video is trying to say and what I think about the music. On Tuesday, I am going to write about bands or artist that you may have not have heard of. The bands or artist could be local. On Wednesday, I am going to tell you bands, artist, songs to listen to for what mood you are in. For example, you could be in a sad mood and I will give you a playlist of songs to listen that are sad as well. On Thursday, I am going to review old bands/artists from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s(. On Friday, I am going to give facts and a biography of a band or artist. On Sunday, I am going to pick a few bands or artist and talk about what one I like better and why. I am also going to put a poll so people can vote too. On Sunday, I am going to make it a surprise. It could be a review about a band/artist or it could be about the tours stop for a band/artist.

I hope you enjoy my blog cause I know I will have lots of time writing it. Bye and hope to see you all next week.
